I had decided to quit the JEE PREPARATION when I was in class 11th because my depression was going out of my control.

It was all started from 19th June, 2016 when the result of class 10th declared by RBSE. I got 89% marks. I decided for the preparation for JEE because of my interest in Mathematics and Chemistry and a dream to become an IITian. When I started my JEE preparation I realized that I already got 1 month late to start JEE preparation. On the first day of class the Physics faculty was in the mid of “Basic Differentiation” and I had no idea what’s going on because I have never seen this before. As soon as I went home at that day I found myself in depression because I understood nothing on the first day of class. I haven’t shared this problem with my parents. I waited for the next day for something good but it all went ruined as the second day was also the same as first and my depression is getting high and high as I spent whole day in room sitting alone. And at the night I talked to my parents about my current situation and they told me that “keep calm, just relax and do whatever you want” because they are one of the kindest parents in the world. And then I decided to quit the JEE PREPARATION when I was in class 11th because my depression was going out of my control.

After relaxing for 5 to 10 days I joined a normal school for 11th and 12th in my locality. But the dream to become an IITian was still in my mind. I used to watch online JEE tutorials on YouTube and started solving JEE Main based books. By this I able to clear JEE Main (2018) with class 12th and scored 88% in class 12th board, but I was not able to clear JEE ADVANCED (2018).

Right from next day of 12th board exam, I joined JEE ADVANCED preparation coaching in my hometown with high energy because I wanted to fulfill my dream to become an IITian and started working hard from the day 1 because I had to cover the vast JEE syllabus in a single year. In the summer when the temperature is reaching 45°C in my hometown in Rajasthan I used to study under the fan because desert cooler makes more noise which was affecting my studies. Under the fan, my whole body gets completely wet due to sweat. But these things don’t matter when you are completely dedicated to your goal. My parents worried lot about me studying under fan in such a hot climate and then I used to tell them that I am habitual of these conditions.

Day by day I consistently performed my hard work and doing the daily assignments and the test series conducted by coaching institutes without any distractions like smartphones, social media and cinema. I was a bit nervous when I went for JEE Main January exam and coming out of examination hall I was very confident that I would surely get good marks and when the result of JEE Main January came I got 98.6%ile and after that I worked hard for JEE Main April and got 99.23%ile that was very good as of 1-year preparation. And I had around 1 month for the revision for JEE ADVANCED 2019. I revised and solved last year papers and finally on that day (27th May, 2019), I went out for the examination center which was around 100kms from my hometown with my dad in my friend’s car. It was more emotional moment for me because I remembered those depression days I had gone through in starting of class 11th. Around 7:00 am we reached the examination center and there were lots of students and after going into the classroom I kept quiet for 1 minute closing my eyes for maintaining better concentration and the started the paper. As soon as I ended paper 1 and paper 2, I was sure that I would get good marks in chemistry paper and I was a bit nervous about the mathematics paper because it was tougher as compared to the other two.

I went to my hometown with a good satisfaction. I was sure that I would definitely get into the IITs. Then the 10 to 15 days’ break was good for me after the paper. On the result day I was a bit nervous like everyone else and the website of IIT Roorkee was also crashed and this increased my nervousness and then finally the result declared and I got a total of 127 marks in both papers. I was happy and little emotional because of a single year preparation I got these marks.

Now, I want to give some tips to the JEE aspirants:

  • Please share your problems with your elders and faculty mentors because this will reduce stress from your mind and you will better concentrate on your preparation.
  • Also try to complete your daily assignments regularly and never miss the test series conducted by your coaching institutions.
  • Feel free to ask doubts with your faculty.
  • Try to avoid many hours on social media and gaming because your 1 or 2 years’ hard work and commitment will take you to a different level from others. (think about it)
  • And think that something good will happen.
