Indian Engineering Services remains the most looked for vocation for the building graduates in India. Engineering Services Examination generally known as ESE is led yearly by UPSC to select engineers in four spaces- Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, and Telecommunications for the techno – administrative posts. The assessment comprises a two-phase composed assessment followed by an interview. ESE is considered as probably the hardest assessment in India because of fewer posts and high rivalry. Inferable from exceptionally serious determination methods, IES officials convey high regard and status and are ordered to oversee and execute exercises in differing specialized and administrative fields.

These competitors after the last selection are posted in different Ministries and Departments of GOI, for example, Railways, Telecom, Border Roads, CPWD, CWC, CPES, NHAI, Naval Armaments, IDSE, MES, Ordnance Factories and so on., notwithstanding, they can move to any unit, association, office, service or PSU of the Government of India. All these last chosen up-and-comers are assigned as class-1 officials.

The IES test is a three-phase enrollment process – IES Preliminary, IES Main, and Personality Test. Based on the value of up-and-comers in the IES test, they are prescribed to the Union Government for the accessible posts. The nature of work for an engineering official is selected through the IES test, relying upon the Engineering branch and the framework she/he is enlisted for.

In old-time UPSC called IES as Indian Engineering Services and it additionally represented Indian financial services. But a request was propelled about a similar case that the abbreviations for both the tests are the same. So UPSC changed the Indian Engineering Services as Engineering Services Examination for engineering transfer and for the non-specialized stream, it is the same as IES represents Indian Engineering Services. In any case, It became so popular between engineering understudies as the furor of government employment increments after the downturn so that till now instructing establishments called it IES instead of ESE.
