The origin of Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG) The roots of MEMG date back to 1953, when our founder Dr. T.M.A. Pai set up Kasturba Medical College on a barren hill on the outskirts of the town of Udupi in the State of Karnataka. In the subsequent years, many other academic institutions followed suit and this vibrant campus became the town of Manipal. All these institutions were brought under the umbrella of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) that became India’s first deemed university in 1993. Formed in 2004 to consolidate various segments of institutions and businesses, the Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG) has transformed the lives of more than 3,00,000 students from over 60 countries, through its 11 campuses and 6 universities (3 of which are in India and recognised by the University Grants Commission) spread across 5 countries. The university has off-campuses in Mangalore and Bangalore, and off-shore campuses in Dubai (UAE) and Melaka (Malaysia). The Mangalore campus offers medical, dental, and nursing programs. The Bangalore Campus offers programs in Regenerative Medicine. The Dubai campus offers programs in engineering, management and architecture, and the Melaka campus offers programs in medicine and dentistry. The MARENA, a massive indoor sports complex with five badminton courts, four squash courts, three tennis courts, a basketball court, a hi-tech gym and a walking track, reflects the university’s belief that a healthy mind needs a healthy body. MAHE is ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001: 2004 certified and has won the prestigious IMC Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award and the International Asia Pacific Quality Award in 2007- 2008. Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) MEMG launched Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) in 2011 on an invitation from the Government of Rajasthan, as a self-financed State University. Academic excellence was redefined in the region, with the Manipal way of learning; one that inspires students of all disciplines to learn and innovate through practical, hands-on experience. This multi-disciplinary university offers career-oriented courses at all levels, i.e., UG, PG and doctoral, and across diverse streams including management, computer applications, engineering, architecture, planning, fine arts, hospitality, humanities, journalism and mass communication, sciences, law, commerce, etc. MUJ has nurtured a legacy of inspiring changemakers, impressive alumni that has impacted change worldwide, faculty members who are at the forefront of their fields, world-class infrastructure, and a cutting-edge digital campus. Last year, MUJ started a new chapter when the University Grants Commission (UGC) entitled the university to offer online degree programmes (MBA, MCA, BBA, BCA) and the first cohort started class in April 2021.
